An art review of ‘Troll Wood and Fells’ written by trainee gallery assistants Stephen B & Ian.
‘There are nice woolly pictures on the wall and pottery on plinths. There are two artists who grew up from different countries, and their art has stories from there. Flisan is from Sweden and Pirjo is from Finland.’
One of the ceramic pieces has symbols on and you can learn about what the symbols mean on the information sheet – there are reindeers and northern lights from the same country that the artist comes from.
There is quite a lot of work and it looks like they both put a lot of effort into it – it looks professional.
Stephen says, ‘I like the fluffy coasters, they are magical – it reminds me of Zelda. The pictures are eye-catching. And there are lots of different textures.’
The space looks Sensational. We like it, and it has good vibes.
Ian says, ‘The girl looks like Red Riding Hood ‘I like that the elk is bowing to the girl.’
The art is about memories and stories from different places in the world. It has inspired Stephen to make a dream catcher. He says,
‘I like the bag with the horse on it – my mum would like the colours’
‘We like the butterflies, birds and flowers – they really stand out. It would be good to put fruit in the bowls.’
Ian says, ‘The pottery chicken and the sheep are lovely and look smart in the gallery. But I don’t like carpet number 2 because she looks sad and has big lips.’
‘In summary, we think it’s fabulous. You probably wouldn’t have seen art like this before!’
