We are proud to share that Level Best Enterprises has been named a Compassionate Champion for our community work in Colchester.
The award was presented as part of the Compassionate Colchester initiative, which recognises organisations and individuals who go above and beyond to make our city a more connected, caring and inclusive place to live. Colchester is one of only a few cities in the UK to be formally recognised as a Compassionate City; a movement led locally by St Helena Hospice and Colchester City Council.
Level Best Trainee Shelby had the honour of taking to the stage to accept the award on behalf of the whole Level Best team. Speaking with confidence and pride, Shelby shared the impact of Level Best and what it means for young people with learning disabilities to be part of such a supportive community.
We were nominated by Kate Everett, who spoke on behalf of Level Best, saying: “Too many young people with learning disabilities experience social isolation and limited opportunities for work and training. Level Best changes that. They give every individual the opportunity to be their best, with the chance to learn meaningful skills, contribute to their community and develop their creative and practical talents. It’s an organisation full of energy and purpose, and a real source of pride for Colchester.”
The importance of compassionate communities was also highlighted by the Deputy Mayor of Colchester, Cllr Andrew Ellis, who said: “The Compassionate Champion Award is a powerful reminder of the kindness, generosity, and resilience that define Colchester. I’m incredibly proud to see so many individuals, organisations and businesses coming together to support one another and make a real difference in people’s lives. These champions embody the very best of our city, and I wholeheartedly support their efforts to build a more inclusive, caring and connected community.”
This recognition is a reflection of the commitment and creativity of our Trainees, staff, volunteers and supporters. We are proud to be part of such a compassionate and forward-thinking city.
