BIRDWORDS – Jane Stewart, Sally Child and Eggar Tist

This event is now in the past. See what is on now via our events page.

Jane Stewart is an explorative environmental artist living on the North Essex coast. She is inspired by nature and our relationship with it. She is also a beach cleaner, forager and all-round good egg.

Sally Child is a sound artist based in London and Walton. She also represents the reclusive painter Eggar Tist whose work is also included in this exhibition.

BIRDWORDS. An exploration of the language of our feathered friends. By listening and transposing their song into ‘written’ form we consider the messages they are trying to convey to us about our invasive interaction with their environment. Migratory patterns change, nests are lined with plastic, seabirds get entangled in fishing line and nets and nano-plastics have been found in bird egg yolks.
Their message is clear. We need to stop consuming, wasting and polluting.
