James Lejeune

James is a self-employed artist and illustrator. He has lived in Colchester most of his life but found a passion for creating whilst living away from the city. His artwork is inspired by history, nature and the fiction that inspires him.

James has a passion for exploring mythology and human struggles throughout our history. He takes great joy by exploring the narrative and historical-based subject matter. Finding the best way to visually describe a theme or illustrate stories is a key process, using narrative to drive forward a message.

James works with different mediums including oil paints, ink and wash, and digital artwork. His practice has recently expanded to include linoleum printing and pyrography.
