‘Nobody Notices’ – Joe Boyd

‘Nobody Notices’ is the inaugural solo exhibition from Essex-based mixed-media artist Joe Boyd. It explores the texture and form of everyday objects that we often overlook as being ordinary or banal.

The exhibition has been 4 months in the making with Joe experimenting with a wide variety of different materials and processes, such as printing the textures of basketballs, TV remotes, and shower heads and looking at toothbrushes and rope under a microscope. Through this series of final screen prints, Joe is hoping to challenge the viewer to appreciate their surroundings with a new perspective and begin to notice more beauty in the world around them.

Practising art and design for 13 years, after a foundation year course at the Colchester Institute, Joe uses unconventional equipment and processes to recycle household items, food and other non-traditional materials into abstract pieces of art.

Over the years Joe has become passionate about using readily available materials and items in works to inspire people to exercise their creative freedom and not be intimidated by the world of art.

Joe has also taken his work global and delivered workshops and lecturers at the University of Arts Camberwell College of Art and Chelsea College of Art in London, IPCENTER in Vienna, Vilnius Academy of Art in Vilnius, Lithuania and Polimoda School of Fashion in Florence, Italy.

Most recently Joe has started to exhibit my work, beginning with 2 group shows in Italy at Fuori Visioni, Piacenza (2022) and the Mecenate Fine Art Gallery, Rome (2023).

Currently, Joe’s original works, prints, books, design assets and t-shirts are for sale and have been commissioned to create pieces of art for global brands such as Adobe, Sky TV, Mercedes-Benz, Universal Music Group, Bershka and Playtronica.
