Time by Abbie Cairns

Dr Abbie Cairns’ Manifesto:
To remember that I am an artist and teacher at all times and in all places. To recognise the little moment of practice in each day, in the classroom or studio. To build community. To experiment with new ideas, materials, and equipment. To select the right opportunities and moments. To create continuously.

Dr Abbie Cairns is an Essex-based artist-teacher-researcher with a practice rooted in identity, text, and context. Alongside creating and exhibiting artwork, she teaches art in the adult community learning sector and conducts research on themes including identity and the experiences of artist-teachers.

Time is an exhibition that explores the elusive and relentless nature of time; its passing, its scarcity, and our relationship with it. Featuring new works by Abbie Cairns, including automatic writing and sculpture, the exhibition invites you to pause, reflect, and consider: How do you spend your time? How do you lose it? And what might you choose to do with it next?
