A review of ‘The Beswick Collection by Elianna Beswick’ – currently on exhibition at Level Best Gallery.
This review was written by Saffron, Ben, Phil, Claire and Sophie, with administrative duties completed by Subanki, and assistance from staff members Megan and Amber.
What do we know about the artist?
The artist is a lady who likes to paint all sorts of stuff. We think she is kind and friendly. She likes to paint all different things like animals, dragons, people and flowers.
She has a family and she also has children and supportive friends, and she lives in Colchester, and she is also clever and witty artist, and an author as well. She won an award for one of her paintings.
How would you describe what is on the walls to someone who can’t see the pictures?
There are 16 paintings, and they are all different. She uses acrylic paint, it is bright and colourful, some are big some are small. Harry Potter is on the walls and so is Michael Jackson. She likes to paint the main character, they are not all framed but some of them are.
There is a certificate of artistic achievement from 2022, for the Michael Jackson painting, each picture has information below with the price and name. There are also cats and dogs and children pictures, as well as fantasy paintings of dragons.
How does the exhibition make you feel?
The gallery feels bright, calm and makes us feel happy.
Claire says ‘It feels like a fantasy world. I feel I’m in a fantasy and riding on my dragon as a warrior ‘
Ben says ‘Well, it feels different light and calm and relaxing where you can stay for a long time here.’
Our favourite pieces are:
‘Cheeky Girl and Pony’ Phil says, ‘from my perspective it looks like happy memories’
Michael Jackson ‘The Stage Diamond’ because it’s full of flourishes.
Saffron only likes the Harry Potter painting, and none of the others.
‘The Diving Labrador’ because it looks like he’s in the water chasing after his tennis ball that his owner has chucked for him in a fun game of fetch.
‘The Dragon Rider’ because it looks heroic with a knight in shining armour. It is very well painted and makes us think of a film with Nicholas cage and looks real.
Ben says ‘My least favourite piece is ‘The Emperor of Light ‘ because it’s not very neat and it looks so villainous’
What would you say to the artist if they were here?
Phil says ‘Most of them are ok, its just the cost. People can experience something different. The detail and some of the pieces are exceptional. The gallery is bright and full of material. I like most of them, so well done and thank you’
What would you say to make people visit the exhibition?
We think it is amazing! Come and see this excellent artwork by this very talented artist!
We like the colours and details.
There is a good book to look at too. Not only is she a very good painter, but she is also an author.
The Beswick Collection by Elianna Beswick is on display at Level Best Gallery until Monday, 30th March.
