A review of the art exhibition ‘Creative Minds’ written by Owen S, Shelby B & Sophie N, assisted by staff member Beth.
The exhibition is made up of framed photographs and one sculpture, they are all made by different people and was organised by a local NHS team who help people with their mental health.
They brought in the art and we decided where to hang it on the walls. We also stuck the labels and signs up on the walls too.
Owens Favourites:
I like the one of the tunnel – because its like a zombie apocalypse and I like that its underground. It makes me think of loneliness and feeling like all your friends are gone. Maybe the artist was feeling lonely?
It reminds me of going to the beach with Dad & Step Mum – It reminds me of parties and happy times at sunset. Its so peaceful.
I like the sign, its very colourful and nice and easy to read, very creative. I bet it took ages to cut out all the letters.
Shelby’s Favourites:
I like the one of people hugging, its like when you see your friends after not seeing them for a while – It’s the best feeling. They look really happy to see each other – it makes me feel happy.
I like the sunset because it reminds me of holiday with family and crabbing and feeling relaxed when the sun goes down.
Sophie’s Favourites:
I like the cat and the dove, because I like animals, they are cute and fluffy. It makes me feel happy to look at the pictures. It makes me want to lay in the grass in the sunshine.
What we didn’t like:
Sophie & Shelby: The tablet art makes us feel a bit stressed because theres a lot going on it. Feels a bit depressing which is clever because that’s how the artist felt. But we don’t like to look at it.
Owen: I’m not a fan of cats, their evil – I’m a dog person.
If the artists were here now, we would say:
Sophie: ‘Well done – good work – it’s got a lot of colour and something for everyone to enjoy.’
Owen: ‘How did you do all this? How many years did it take to do all your art? How did you make the shark head? It looks really scary but I really like it.’
Shelby: ‘It is very interesting. It makes me want to try photography. They are so clever at doing it because the pictures make feel happy. I don’t like the black cat one because it looks like the bed hasn’t been made properly.’
How much would we give it out of 10?
Owen – 9/10 – it would be 10/10 if I liked all of the pictures.
Shelby – 9/10 – I would like more pictures like the sunset one that make me happy. I’m not impressed that the cat didn’t make the bed. The shark needs more colour, it looks a bit plain and unfinished – it looks rushed.
Sophie – 10/10 – I like all the detail, I like that every picture is different. Just get rid of the shark one, it’s a bit scary. I like the one where people are hugging – because they are being kind to each other.
‘Creative Minds’ is on display at the Level Best Gallery until Friday 27th June.
