A review of the exhibition ‘Inspired Finds’ by Belinda Knapp and Kirsta McSkimming written by trainee Gallery Assistants William T & Claire W, assisted by staff member Beth.
William: It gives me joy, and it’s a lot of fun. I enjoy the colours and different textures.
‘The Key’ by Belinda is my favourite because it’s a lovely bit of wood, its different, and it looks real. The details and colours are very well painted.
I like the textile pieces because they are unusual. I haven’t seen much artwork like it before.
The Egg on the greetings card by Belinda looks eggs-celent!
Claire: ‘Receptacles’ by Belinda is my favourite, I just think it’s so clever how she captures the shadows and the light shining on the objects. It caught my eye.
I like ‘Pigeons’ by the same artist too, they look realistic. It looks like they might fly out of the picture. It’s very detailed.
I like ‘Sandra West 01’ by Kirsta because it looks like a doughnut!
Its all quite interesting.
Beth: I enjoy both artists’ work together. I think the composition of the works and colours very well complement each other.
William & Claire: The exhibition looks nice all together, and it’s quite calming.
We like that the paintings aren’t just on normal canvases!
William gives the exhibition 10/10
Claire gives the exhibition 10/10.
William: ‘If you were walking past on the street, would you come in to look at this artwork?’
Claire: ‘Yeah, I would, the work catches your eye’
If the artists were here, what would you say to them?
William: ‘You are very good – the art is fabulous’
Claire: ‘Amazing artwork’
‘Inspired Finds’ is open at the Level Best Gallery until 30th July.
